Boston Pops Pop-Up Concert Today on Bedford St!!

For those who don’t know who the Boston Pops are (where have you been?!): They started in 1885 as a ‘light’ orchestra–meaning, they weren’t the heavy symphonic orchestra sound you normally think of. One of their most famous conductors, John Williams wrote such famous movie themes as Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

The current conductor, Keith Lockhart has brought a lot of great names in to perform with them as well as kept it light and fun. Just a handful of names who have performed with the Pops over the years: Jerry Garcia, Aerosmith, Jason Alexander, Kelly Clarkson, Neil Diamond, the Muppets, etc.

Their holiday albums have become classic but their 4th of July Fireworks spectacular shows are legendary! They unfortunately stopped broadcasting them 2 years ago in this area, but thankfully will be live online this year. Tonight’s 10-piece version of the Pops downtown will be getting all of us ready for the 4th and I CAN’T WAIT!!!

The concert itself begins at 5:45pm on Bedford St. — Bedford St. will be closing to traffic at 5pm for this event.

I’ll be there, will you???
